Marcia Cross pregnant with first child

Marcia Cross is pregnant with her first child, her publicist confirms.

The Desperate Housewives actress, 44, hasn’t wasted any time starting her little family after having recently married, 48-year-old stockbroker Tom Mahoney, on June 24.

The bouncing baby is expected to arrive in April — just in the knick of time for the season finale of Desperate Housewives season 3.

Cross hasn’t kept her desire to have a child a secret, ”I definitely want to be a mom — whether I have to have my own or not, we’ll see,” when she told USA TODAY in 2005. Cross was well aware of the risks associated with later-in-life pregnancies, and spoke frankly that she might feel more confident adopting or even hiring a surrogate.

Since 40 is the new 20, I’m sure Marcia and hubby will be just fine and will be fully prepared for the babies arrival.

Producers were still deciding whether to incorporate Cross’ pregnancy into the storyline. In the Oct. 1 show, the second episode of the new season, the actress’ character, uptight Bree, will wed Kyle MacLachlan’s mysterious and potentially dangerous Orson. Season 3 of ABC’s Desperate Housewives premieres Sept. 24.
